About the author: Alastair KIRK

Alastair Kirk was born in Leicestershire, England, in 1984 and became a Christian aged eight after being challenged by a street evangelist. He now lives in Swindon with his wife, Anna, and little boy, Daniel. Alastair worked in Christian education for nine years which provided many opportunities to minister to young people at student conferences in the UK, Russia, Singapore and Australia. He also spent several years as youth pastor at his church. For the past four years, Alastair has been CEO of an international aid agency.
Alastair says, "Raised in a Christian home, I had a deep sense of God's hand upon my life from an early age. When I was eight, I was challenged by a street evangelist and accepted the Lord Jesus into my heart as my personal Saviour. I was baptised a few years later. In my late teens I made a decision to commit my future plans into God’s hands with the intention of serving the Lord with my life. I believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, paid the penalty for my sin by dying on the Cross, rising again and ascending into Heaven. I also believe in the promise that He will literally return and that as a child of God I have an eternal destiny. Having accepted the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, repented and confessed Him as Lord, I believe I am saved by grace and not of works. I recognise that the life I now live I live in Christ (Gal 2:20) and therefore my primary motivation in life is to put God first, remain obedient to His direction and love Him with all my heart. I believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is foundational in my commitment to walk with God, fellowship with Him and serve others."
Alastair's other writings include "Only by Grace - My Moscow Diary", a self-published testimony, which was written during an unexpected hospital stay in Russia after receiving life-saving surgery whilst on a ministry trip. As well as writing, Alastair's other interests include playing clarinet, sports and above all else, spending time with family.
